The Baltimore Youth Film Arts Program offers Baltimore City residents ages 16 to 29 the opportunity to learn camera skills, refine storytelling techniques, and create films and photographs to be shared at public screenings and exhibitions, and on the program website. Baltimore Youth Film Arts is an affiliate program of the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University. I participated in two workshops listed below.

Londyn Smith de Richelieu

In this videography workshop, I collaborated on creating profiles of Baltimore social justice activists, bringing attention to those who often work quietly and out of view to effect meaningful change. Met advocates involved with a range of causes, from food equity to LGBTQ rights to youth engagement to violence prevention. Worked together with fellows as a crew: researching, interviewing, shooting B-roll, and editing to make several short final videos.

One Day I translated and provided subtitles in Spanish for a short doc on Dylan Lewis, an English teacher who talks about how his classroom is a safe space for all students.

One Day I ideated the concept of featuring poetry videos from artist Emily Gardín to accompany my article on Afro-Latinx erasure in education. I assisted the video team with the editing process, translation, and creative decisions. Published April 15, 2022

the history of the #me Too Movement

PBS NewsHour The Instagram story had a peak engagement of 9,776 views and was later converted into a digital video for YouTube. Published January 6, 2020

I also produced an Instagram story on the 10 year anniversary of the Haiti earthquake. I had to assemble footage and photos from Reuters and Storyful, as well as write a brief news story script. The instagram story on Haiti had a peak engagement of 6,111 views. I interviewed a former aid worker who was one of the few Haitian-Americans at the table during reconstruction.
